This is one of a number of informal and spontaneous studies by Polidoro of day-to-day figures and scenes. It should be dated either towards the end of his Roman period, or shortly after he moved to Messina in 1528. Two other drawings, both in the Uffizi (inv. 1376F and 20958F) bear the same inscription, “pulidoro”, seen here on the verso.
